Daily Sketch - Skater Dude! Out here in SoCal, skateboards here are pretty much the usual sight you'll see, much like the bicycle in the midwest. A great way of transportation, thats easily carried into any store and such. I can't help but watching the smooth motion of the skaters as they glide around corners and thru cross walks. San Diego Comic Fest 2013

We had a great time at the SD Comic Fest this past weekend! Met a lot of good peeps, did a lot of convention sketches and commissions. Sat next to some great friends and comic creators. A new comic strip on cosplayers!

A new strip on the focus of all convention coverage, the cosplayer.

13 hour painting

So here I present you a peak from line art to finished work "Solo Veno, takes a walk" done in acrylic.   The Original piece is 11X14 on wood and will be offered for viewing and purchase at San Gabriel Valley Art Exhibit June 10th-August 10th.

Painting is still somewhat new to me, this being only my 2nd in over a decade and 4th in my lifetime.

I got to say I really like it!!!  I like making mistakes that cannot be undone with the click of a button and having something tangible in hand at the end of the creative process.   

 A 13 hour painting you say?  Well truth in fact is with all the planning work that goes unseen, thumbnail sketches, photo references, digital rough painting, and transferring a clean line sketch to board; it might well run closer to 30hrs.

But that process of sitting and mixing alone through the night and seeing the sunrise through the cracks of the venetian blinds is the magic hour, my 13th hour.

 Were ready or not my brain cries Finito and I go crashing to sleep only to be awakened by the cat with the Labyrinthian gut, Sergio.



Yes I love painting and now I'm dreaming up some more.

Comic Art Exhibit

For you art lovers out there, KingMakers Artists, Matt & Mikey, will be showcasing original art at the San Gabriel Valley Comic Art Exhibit this June 10th - August 10th 2013 in Baldwin Park, CA!

There will be a wide variety of original art by many local California artist, not least of which, the talented  Javier Hernandez, creator of such indy comic books as El Muerto and The Coma!

Art Update

  Just a quick digital painting (Photoshop) of Women's MMA Champ, Ronda Rousey.
Its amazing how she can go from intimidating to friendly.  The smile might be next.

DETAIL:  I worked 'zoomed out' so that I would not get to 'tight' on this.  I wanted a loose, spontaneous feel to it.

New Projects!

Well, 2013 is upon us, and so the boys at KingMakersComix embark on another adventure! A new project involving the powers of darkness and the heroes that oppose them.  And believe me when I tell you, these heroes do it in style!

Working on some new Comix!

So Matt and I are working on some new comix and I feel real bad for not keeping you all in the loop.
Since the projects aren't in print as of yet and others are still in the script and pencil stages, I decided why not post some quick art in the meantime.
